In 2012 Munich and Upper Bavaria are celebrating an old Bavarian tradition: 200 Years of Beer Garden






Zum Flaucher

“Zum Flaucher” has a long tradition in Munich. The former innkeeper Johann Flaucher soon recognized that this former hunting residence of the famous Wittelsbacher is an ideal destination of excursions.
Since 1871, “Zum Flaucher” attracted more and more people and developed to a very popular spot in Munich. Aside from the urban “hustle and bustle”, in the middle of thick forest, take a break and enjoy a cold beer and some typical Bavarian specialties in a beautiful ambience.




Hirschgarten

Known as “The living room from Munich”, the largest beer garden in our Bavarian metropolis invites you to enjoy a cooled Augustiner beer and the famous pork with potato dumplings in the middle of huge chestnut trees.
With its large lawns and the deer park right aside, Hirschgarten is also the perfect destination for families with children. About a 30 minutes walk from the beergarden you get the chance to visit one of the most famous castles of Munich, the Nymphenburg Castle.


Hofbräukeller (Wiener Platz)

The Steinberg family, for more than 15 years the landlord and landlady of the Hofbräu cellar, and their employees look forward to inspire you to the world-famous Munich tradition and hospitality. Built in 1892, the stately building of the Hofbräukeller is located in the wonderful park of high Bank of the Isar, between Maximilianeum and the German Museum.
As the magnificent building of the neo-Renaissance with its arcades of the former stables, the Hofbräukeller deals sensitively in the ensemble of the Vienna square in the middle of Haidhausen. The beer garden with its ancient chestnut is an Idyll in the heart of the picturesque and bustling environment of the Vienna Square. Enjoy the of the world-famous and palatable Hofbräu beer, a hearty snack and Bavarian delicacies and relax in the cool beer garden under the chestnut trees.




Großhesselohe

In the year 776, Duke Tassilo was certified the "silent Hesselohe" as an estate. In the fifteenth century, he received a beer dispensing permit. Here especially pious pilgrims who sought intercession when hermit living on the slopes of the Isar until towards the end of the 18th century, the silent until then still strengthened himself that this is a famous destination in Munich.
From 1779, a cattle and fair like in Keferloh established itself around the property with the kurfürstlichem privilege. Around 1800 "Forestry Hesselohe", as it was now called, developed to a dance pavilion, which became as well a popular meeting point for young people. In 1852, the railroad came to Grosshesselohe and brought even better business to the Inn. Up to 10,000 visitors were located on a good day. A beer breaks record never accomplished until today has been marked at the Pentecost Sunday 1900 with 123 hectolitres.

Tassilogarten

This beer garden is a frequently described oasis in the town Triangle of Haidhausen Giesing and Au; let you forget the rear city bustle with the view of the flowering oleander and the shadow of the beautiful chestnuts.
Bavarian specialties as Obazda and spareribs are served equally as the refinements of the restaurant kitchen.
